Rakta Charitra is an upcoming trilingual Indian film produced and directed by Ram Gopal Varma. Simultaneously made in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil,[1] the film is based on the life of Paritala Ravi, a slain factionist & political leader from Andhra Pradesh.Vivek Oberoi plays the role of Ravi, while Surya enacts the role of Maddelacheruvu Suri – Ravi's political nemesis. Shatrughan Sinha, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Radhika Apte play other pivotal roles. The film, currently in the final stages of post-production, is scheduled to be released on October 22, 2010.
The story will be based around the conspiracy theories surrounding 2005 assassination of Paritala Ravi. The Hindi and Telugu versions would be split in to 2 parts since the duration of the entire movie exceeds 5 hrs. The director feels that the 2-part release would appeal to multiplex audiences. At the same time The Tamil version of the movie, Ratha Sarithiram, will be released as a single full-length movie after some extensive editing.
