Rajnikanth, who was undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore for nephrological problems, was discharged last evening.
This was confirmed by his son-in-law and actor Dhanush who had tweeted in his micro-blogging site. In his twitter message Dhanush tweeted "Superstar discharged from hospital last evening. He has recovered completely and taking rest...Soon national award celebrations for me'', he said.
Dhanush, who won the national award for his role in the film 'Aadukalam' has kept off his celebrations as Rajinikanth was hospitalised.
The actor, after his discharge, was staying in a state-of-the-art apartment and was likely to return to Chennai next month.
The apartment has fool proof security with all medical facilities. He would be staying there for periodic check ups.
As there were widespread rumours after his health condition, scores of his fans performed special poojas in temples and churches for the speedy recovery of the actor.
